First Doctor's Visit

On 12/15, a Monday, I went to what was supposed to be my first OB appointment. I was told, at this first appointment, that I would see the nurse first to confirm the pregnancy, and after that appointment, I'd be allowed to make an appointment with the actual Obstetrician. Sounded kinda odd to me, but what do I know? All I knew was the Henry Fix Or Repair Daily Health system had done a good job with my physical therapy, so hopefully I could do this with them too, right?

WRONG.

The appointment was for 10:30 am and I got there a few minutes early. I was thinking I may have some type of paperwork to fill out or something. Typically when I've had other appointments in this system, when I get there, my chart is already ready and we're off and running. Not this time, which was omen #1. The intake nurse could not find my chart, and the search began. After she decided to create a new chart, the other intake nurse found my chart. Ok. So, they gave me the chart in a clear folder and told me to have a seat, I'd be called in a moment.

So...at 11:15 or so, they finally call me in the back. The nurse takes my vitals, and as I'm putting my shoe back on, I break my thumbnail down in the meaty part. OUCH. We go in the back into an exam room, she tells me to take off my cat and sit down, she'd be back in a moment. She comes back in the room and can't get the computer started, so she says "we're going to go to another room". We go to the next room, she logs onto the computer, and starts putting in my info. She's putting in my medical records number, but can't get my information to come up. This goes on for like, 20 minutes! She's going in and out if the room asking people for help, then finally, she gets another nurse to come in and help her. She tries for another 5 minutes then finally adds a 0 to the number and gets something to come up, but not a lot. By this time, it's...11:45.

Mind you, I'd been there all morning for physical therapy.

So, this other nurse stays in the room and the first nurse went to go start some lab work, or something. So nurse 2 starts asking me questions and I asked her about a couple of them, and she got an attitude. Then she gets to asking me about my medical history...with the door wide open. I said "could you please shut the door?" This heffa smacks her lips and said "you know what? Ima just let her come back in here and finish you.". I was like ok. That's my cue. I was putting my coat on when nurse a comes back and I was like I'm leaving. She's asking me what's wrong and I told her I just didn't feel comfortable and I was leaving. She says "but I was just getting ready to send you to the lab for blood work!"

It was 12:00.

I walked out.

And that was my first doctor's appointment.

2 lines mean positive...

How did this happen? Well, we already know the answer to that. Let's do a little backround digging, shall we?

I fell and sprained a ligament in my knee and have been in physical therapy. I was at work at the slaveship that is about to sink (more on that later) and as I'm completing the forms for the physical therapy, the question is asked "are you or could you be pregnant?" I said well...let's find out! I was a few days late but in my mind I was thinking (hoping) that due to the stress from the fall, my body was in a little shock. I get up and go downstairs to CVS and buy a test. As I'm picking up the box, I hear a voice in my head saying "you don't even need a dual kit!" But I bought it anyway.

I go back up to the restroom in in the slaveship and open the box and read the instructions. I do my business on the stick, and before I could even get the cap back on it, both lines popped up pink. I'm like whoa! ME???? I went back to my desk, finished completing the forms and called my husband, told him and said ok, I'll call you later. He's like "like I can really go back to work now!!!" But of course, we both did. We both made it home and had a little *celebration* and that's kind of where the drama begins.

We called our parents and told them, and I knew once we did that, the secret was out. OUR WHOLE CHURCH KNOWS!!! But it's ok. Everyone has been pushing for us to have a baby since we got married, and we are approaching our 2 year anniversary in February. We are excited and scared. I'm nervous as hell because...

...I don't like kids.

Welcome!

Let's start at the beginning, shall we?

My name is Yo and I want to take you with me on a fantastic voyage. I'm FINALLY having a baby! I know the next 9 months will be exciting, scary, and all that other stuff rolled into one. Of course, no journey is complete without friends to share it along the way. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I will enjoy writing it. Plus, it would be a shame to not capture as much of this madness as possible...

I present...

NINE MONTHS!!!

Let's hope we make it through : ) !!!
